Social Accommodation Minister Roderick Galdes has stated that the Government has issued a call for new tenders for Marsa, Mosta and Santa Luċija housing estates so that social accommodation buildings can be regenerated.
During a media conference at the Marsa Housing Estate, the Minister stated that through these projects embellishment work will be carried out in these three social housing areas through an increase in the numbers of trees and shrubs, as well as playing fields for children. Besides, these estates will be made more accessible, and new lifts will also be installed.
It is estimated that some 350 families will benefit from these projects.
Minister Galdes stated that the Government is continuing to invest in housing estates, which he described as a living social monument.
Parliamentary Secretary Stefan Zrinzo Azzopardi stated that European funds will be helping for these areas to be embellished in order to improve the quality of life for the residents.
Dr Zrinzo Azzopardi further stated that the projects will be carried out at a cost of two million euro, of which 1.8 million euro are from European funds.
