Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau would continue to lead the country after winning the general election.
He had called an election last month in the hope that the minority government would get a majority.
Although he did not win a majority in Parliament, he won enough votes to continue running the country.
This was the third electoral victory for Trudeau, who is 49 years old, after those of 2015 and 2019.
In his first comment he said the Canadians had given him a clear mandate to bring the country out of the pandemic.
