Captain of MV Lifeline given permission to visit his mother

The Court presided over by Magistrate Joe Mifsud has decreed that the Captain of MV Lifeline may be allowed to go to Germany despite the fact that the prosecution’s lawyer had submitted a petition for this request not to be upheld.

Magistrate Mifsud imposed various conditions on Captain Claus Peter Reich, including that he has to report to the prosecution and the Court when he comes back, and to present his flight tickets to show that he will be leaving the country to go visit his mother. Another condition was the deposit of €5,000.

The Captain will leave Malta on 16 July and return on 29 July.
