New Marsascala football ground inaugurated

Prime Minister Joseph Muscat this morning inaugurated the football ground at Marsascala, following a 2.5 million euro investment. The ground is spread over 6,000 square metres.

The project had been announced in 2016, and was taken in hand as children and youths in the locality only had use of a 7-a-side pitch for training.

The new facility, which is within the family park, includes a ground and a Clubhouse for Marsascala Football Club and Marsascala Football Nursery.

Besides a FIFA-approved football pitch, the facility includes a Clubhouse for use by the club itself, dressing rooms, a conference hall, offices and a restaurant which can be commercialised.

Also included is a reservoir for collecting rain water and safeguarding the environment.

Through an agreement between Marsascala Football Ground and SportMalta, the ground can be used in the mornings by local schools as well as by other Marsascala entities, thus maximising the facility’s potential.
