Carer suspended following alleged abuse on elderly person

A carer at St Vincent de Paule has been suspended following a case of alleged abuse on an elderly person. St Vincent de Paule administration was informed that the elderly person was referred to Mater Dei hospital due to the alleged abuse. In a statement it was pointed out that the administration started investigations immediately and referred the case to the Police.

TVM is informed that the carer is Maltese and is employed by a private contractor who provides carer services to St Vincent de Paule residence. TVM is informed that this carer has been for years working in the profession without problems and it is therefore the Police investigation which has to establish whether there was an abuse. Sources told TVM that the involved elderly person alleged that the had hit, but the carer denied the allegation. Police investigation is ongoing.
