18 persons were fined simultaneously after being caught in the act by Police at a party at the White Rocks area in Baħar iċ-Ċagħaq.
The Police said in a statement that it received a report at around 3.30am that there were various parked vehicles and that a party was apparently being held.
Officers from the St Julian’s station went on site and heard music coming from rooms. When they entered the place, they found 18 persons, including the organiser and a DJ.
The District police officers searched the place and found a basket consisting of a bag with suspected ecstasy pills, a scale and a hidden blade on a 25-year old man, and suspected cannabis on a 36-year old woman.
The Police suspected that more drugs were hidden and called on the Dog Section members on site where more suspected cannabis drugs and a container with suspected cocaine traces were found.
The persons were taken at the St Julian’s police station for further investigations and searches were made on the arrested persons. During the searches, Police seized more suspected cannabis on three men aged 26, 28 and 31.
The persons found in possession of drugs are being held under custody, while the others were informed that they will be summoned in connection with legal notices’ breaches.
Duty Magistrate Audrey Demicoli ordered an inquiry into the case and appointed various experts to assist her. Police investigations are ongoing.
Meanwhile, Interior Minister Byron Camilleri, thanked the Police for their continuous work and appealed to the public not to take initiatives and wait for the health authorities to decide when to relax restrictions.
