The man charged with killing 51 people in a Christchurch mosque in New Zealand has been charged with a terrorist act.
In a statement, New Zealand Police confirmed that Breton Tarrant has been accused of engaging in a terrorist act.
He already faces charges of murder and 40 charges of attempted murder after the attack carried out on two mosques in South Island on 15 March.
The attack was the worst in New Zealand’s history. As a result, the New Zealand parliament has voted to ban semi-automatic weapons.
