Colombia’s most wanted drug lord captured

Colombian authorities have captured the country’s most wanted drug lord and leader of the biggest criminal group. Dairo Antonio Úsuga, known as Otoniel, was captured on Saturday during a joint operation by the army, air force and the police.

The Colombian government had offered $800,000 for information leading to the capture of Otoniel, while the United States had offered a reward of $5 million. In a televised messafe, President Iván Duque praised the operation that led to Otoniel’s arrest.

Otoniel was captured in a rural area where he was hiding in the Antioquia province in northern Colombia, close to the Panama border.
