Comedian Zelensky sweeps to victory in Ukraine elections

Ukrainian comedian Volodymyr Zelensky has won a major victory in the Presidential elections in his country.

With the votes almost all counted, Zelensky has obtained 73% of the popular vote.

Zelensky, 41, ran against President Petro Poroshenko, who only garnered 24% of the votes and conceded defeat.

However, Poroshenko said that he would not be leaving the political scene. The results of this election are being considered a major blow for Poroshenko and the Ukraine establishment.

Zelensky told journalists that he would be once again reviving peace talks with separatists, who are being backed by Russia, who are fighting the Ukrainian forces and the Western volunteers in the country.
