Concerns grow in the UK as African variant is found

UK authorities are concerned as cases of the African variant have been found among the population which this week relaxed some of its lockdown measures.

It might be a case of creating false hopes among the British public which went out to celebrate in bars and pubs this week, with the emergence of the African variant, which is considered more dangerous as the vaccines do not seem to work against it.

Prof John Edmunds hopes that mass testing will help for the cases of this variant to be kept under control. He did not exclude that restrictions might have to be re-introduced in certain areas.
