UK: Costa Rican visitor turns up in banana consignment at Lidl

A species of frog which is only found in Costa Rica has been found in a box containing bananas in a Lidl outlet in Nottingham.

Lidl staff said that when they opened the box to lay out the fruit on the shelves, they found this sizeable frog nestled among the bananas.

The frog, which has been named Lloyd, has been given to a veterinarian who specialises in exotic animals.

There are over 800 species of frogs in Costa Rica alone. Some of them, like Lloyd, live in trees. These species of frogs come in all colours and sizes, with some of the colours closely resembling the frogs’ habitat.
