Covid-19 Brazilian variant sparks huge concern

Health authorities in the Brazilian city of Manaus are deeply concerned as hospitals have been brought to their knees due to the sharp rise in infections linked to the variant that has erupted in the country.

Health workers are calling for help as many people are dying from lack of ventilators and oxygen.

Covid-19 variants are potentially more dangerous because they infect human cells faster, with the virus spreading faster.

In Brazil more than 205,000 people have died with Covid-19.
