Many youngsters love to spend hours kicking a ball around or spending their free time with friends. Youngsters don’t always enjoy feasts. Javan Grech, a 16-year-old young boy, is passionate about them and every year during Holy Week he dresses up for a number of processions – a habit his father passed on when Javan was still a little boy.
In comments to tvm.com.mt , Javan said he was looking forward to tomorrow’s Good Friday procession where he was to dress up as a Roman soldier and was equally keen to take part in yesterday’s procession.
Asked if he is put off by having to walk up and down hills, Javan said that the only thing that gets in the way is the cold because all too often his costume is not enough to keep him warm. However, since he is doing something he loves, Javan closes an eye to any inconvenience.
Faced with Covid-19, which has even disrupted Holy Week celebrations, Javan said he took the news very badly and he still has not come to terms with it fully. In addition the fact that he can’t even go to church at the moment is heartbreaking for him. Javan added that he is can’t wait until we see the end of the virus, hoping that another year nothing will deprive him of the holidays that he so loves.
