Covid-19 death toll in USA hits 500,000

In the United States, 500,071 people have now lost their lives to Covid-19, remaining at the top of the list of countries worst hit by Covid-19 fatalities.

In a speech to mark the sombre day, U.S. President Joe Biden said that deaths from Covid had now surpassed the total number of deaths from World War I, World War II, and the Vietnam War combined.

The number of cases in the United States also tops the list, with 28.1 million people infected.

Biden said that it was important for the country to remain united, and to continue to obey the restrictions of the health authorities.
