Covid-19: Empty streets in Paris

In France, Paris and eight other cities appeared totally deserted without people in sight following the enforced overnight restrictions that banned everyone from going outside.

The aim of this measure is to reduce the rate of coronavirus infection in France, which has one of the highest rates of cases in Europe.

The new restrictions brought complaints by owners of restaurants and businesses who have faced a substantial reduction in sales and clients since the two-month lockdown in spring.

More measures are expected to be announced in the coming hours, even in Italy.
