Covid-19: MAM issues directives which will affect all hospitals in Malta and Gozo

The Malta Medical Association has announced industrial action from 8am tomorrow until 12 August, and if no agreement is reached with the Ministry of Health, further industrial action has not been excluded.

The directives by the MAM will affect all hospitals in Malta and Gozo, that is,  Mater Dei, all health centres, the Gozo General Hospital and the oncology hospital.

The MAM said that the increase in Covid-19 cases was caused by mass events and with 15 cases a day being registered, Malta has ended up being blacklisted by four European countries.

According to the Union, the Government instead of controlling the pandemic has kept holding mass activities including those where thousands of people are gathering. According to the association, where European countries are banning certain events, Maltese authorities are doing the opposite.

According to the association, the new restrictions for mass activities are weak on enforcement and therefore it was insisting that mass activities should be stopped immediately.
