Croatia: Tourist arrested for killing his dog with a hammer

A 51-year old German, who was on holiday in Croatia, was arrested for killing his own dog by hitting it with a hammer on the head.

The Croatian police said the case occurred during the weekend in a green area of a building in Rijeka, a town in northern Croatia. The tourist, who was drunk and in possession of ketamines drug, was arrested in Rijeka port.

After he was arrested, the Police said the man damaged the police station. He is now being accused with the killing and cruelty to animals, drugs possession and vandalising the police station.

In Croatia, persons found guilty of cruelty and killing of animals may face up to one year in prison.
