DB Group project suspended until appeal is decided

The permit for the DB group City Centre project in Pembroke is currently suspended until the Planning tribunal decides on the appeal made against the Planning Authority’s permit last September.

The tribunal started hearing the appeal presented against the project by seventeen persons and entities, who include non-governmental organisations and the local councils of Pembroke, St Julian’s and Swieqi.

During the hearing, a spokesperson on behalf of the appellants stated that the site on which the project was approved includes barracks which should not be touched and the permit for their dismantling and re-installation should be revoked.

The appeal was initiated last November after the sum of over €20,000 was raised to cover the appeal expenses. The tribunal is expected to give its decision next 12th February.
