DCG murder: Who are the three men expected to be arraigned?

Vince Muscat, known as il-Koħħu, and the Degiorgio brothers, George Degiorgio known as iċ-Ċiniż and Alfred Degiorgio known as il-Fulu, are to be arraigned in Court shortly following yesterday’s arrests in connection with the murder of Daphne Caruana Galizia.

The three persons, who are known to the Police authorities, have a background which connects them together in other crimes.

Who is il-Koħħu?

In April 2014 Il-Koħħu was fighting for his life after being hit in the head by shots at Imsida. Jonathan Pace had been charged in connection with this case. Four months later, in August, Pace, who was the owner of Tyson Butcher, had been killed in Fgura with a number of shots to the chest and legs. Il-Koħħu had been interrogated in connection with this case.

Who are the Degiorgio brothers?

The Degiorgio brothers are known to the Police. George Degiorgio, known as iċ-Ċiniż, had been charged with possession of illegal weapons and drugs. The other brother, il-Fulu, had been one of the accused in a theft carried out in the year 2000 from a Group 4 van at St Venera, after his fingerprints had been found on the stolen money. The money had been recovered at Birzebbugia.

What is the connection between il-Koħħu, il-Fulu and ċ-Ċiniż?

In the past the three men had been mentioned in connection with the attemped robbery from the HSBC bank in Qormi in 2010. Whilst il-Koħħu had been arraigned in Court and charged in connection with this case, the Degiorgio brothers had been implicated, but had never been arraigned.
