Death of author Andrea Camilleri

Sicilian author Andrea Camilleri died early this morning at the age of 93.

Known for his books about Commissioner Montalbano, Camilleri passed away in hospital where he had been recovering after suffering a heart attack in June.

Besides being an author, Camilleri was also a dramatist, philosopher and TV director.

In his last years Camilleri had lost his sight, but this did not stop him from continuing to write.
