Heritage Malta has selected the design by artist John Grima for the monument commemorating literary legend Oliver Friggieri who died last November.
The design was selected by a jury among the proposals presented following an expression of interest issued in recent months, under the auspices of the Prime Minister’s Office.
The monument will be placed in Floriana where Professor Friggieri spent his childhood and youth days, near the monument which commemorates the First World War and facing the monument of national poet Dun Karm Psaila.
The cost indicated for the design and building of the monument is around €100,000.
The jury has recommended that the other two best submissions, presented by Chris Ebejer and Lino Bianco, are mentioned with honour and will therefore receive a cash prize according to the expression of interest.
