Divers in Maldives help to free entangled shark

A video clip shot underwater depicts a moving scene when Italian divers gave a helping hand to a big shark in the Maldives.

The divers were close to Fuvahmulah island when they came across a four-metre whale shark who had become entangled in a thick fishing rope.

The divers swam around the shark and using sharp blades managed to cut it free of the rope, which had left a number of welts on the shark.

Freed of the entangling rope, the shark continued to swim, and came back near the divers soon after, as if it wanted to thank them for their kind gesture.
