With effect from today, some 440,000 persons resident in Malta and aged 16 and over have started receiving vouchers worth 100 euro as announced in the economic regeneration plan aimed at boosting commercial activity, through some 44 million euro which recipients have to spend over the next three months.

Economy Minister Silvio Schembri stated that the vouchers are being sent by registered mail and consist of five vouchers of 20 euro each, four of which can be used for hotels, accommodation, restaurants, bars and diving schools, with the fifth voucher being for use in outlets which had shut down during the pandemic, including clothes shops, jewellers, hairdressers and beauty parlours, household goods, band clubs, museums and sports clubs, among others.

The vouchers can start being used 24 hours after distribution.
