UPDATED: Woman in danger of death among nine injured in Għajnsielem collision
A woman is in danger of losing her life after being involved in a traffic incident in Triq l-Imġarr, in Għajnsielem in Gozo.
The incident involved two vehicles, a Daihatsu Terios driven by a 36-year-old woman from Nadur with four passengers on board, a Canadian woman and three boys aged nine, 11 and 14. The younger and elder boy suffered grievous injuries while the other boy and the adults suffered light injuries.
The Terios was in collision with a Jago Jeep in which there were four persons; the driver was a 43-year-old Norwegian resident at Kerċem, a 47-year-old American resident at Rabat, a 51-year-old German from Xagħra and a Latvian woman aged 41 who lives in Swieqi. The four of them suffered grievous injuries and the woman is in a serious condition.
She was conveyed to Mater Dei Hospital in a helicopter after receiving first aid treatment at Gozo General Hospital.
As a result of the incident the main road leading to Gozo’s Mġarr Port had to be closed while Magistrate Bridget Sultana ordered an Inquiry.
