Elderly woman dies after testing positive for COVID-19

An elderly woman, aged 86, has died after testing positive for Covid-19.

The woman was confirmed positive for the virus on 30 August and was admitted to Mater Dei that same day. On 2 September she was transferred to St Thomas hospital and afterwards back to Mater Dei on 5 September. She died at the Infectious Diseases Unit at Mater Dei last night.

She had other underlying conditions.

The Health Ministry while conveying its condolences to the woman’s family, has appealed to the public to keep following the measures issued by the Department of Health.
