The Ministry of Health announced that an 78-year-old woman who had tested positive for Covid-19, died yesterday.
The woman tested positive for the first time on 11 August and was confirmed to have tested negative on 28 August and again on 9 September.
However, yesterday the woman was admitted to the emergency ward at Mater Dei from Mt Carmel Hospital and died at the emergency ward. As per procedure, a swab test was taken while she was at emergency which confirmed that the patient had tested positive for Covid-19. It was stated that she had other underlying health conditions.
The Ministry said that contact tracing was being carried out at Mt Carmel hospital to test those people who were in contact with the victim.
