EMA approves Covid vaccine for children in the 5 to 11 age group

The European Medicines Agency has approved the Pfizer BioNTech vaccine against the coronavirus for children in the 5 to 11-year age group.

The Agency is recommending that children are given one-third of the dose divided into two vaccinations.

The companies stated that clinical studies on children in the 5 to 11 age group show the vaccine is nearly 91% effective against the coronavirus.

The European Commission still has to give final approval.
