In a decree issued by the Court presided over by Magistrate Natasha Galea Sciberras, it was stated that there is enough evidence for lawyers Dr Gianluca Caruana Curran and Dr Charles Mercieca to be charged for allegedly trying to bribe a Times of Malta journalist.
The two lawyers form part of the defence team representing the alleged mastermind of the murder of Daphne Caruana Galizia, Yorgen Fenech.
Journalist Ivan Martin had gone to the Police where he reported a meeting he had with the two lawyers. During this meeting he was offered between “two and four €500 notes”. He added that the two lawyers approached him to write a number of stories which would discredit state witness Melvin Theuma.
Theuma was granted a Presidential pardon to turn state’s evidence on the assassination of Daphne Caruana Galizia.
