Entire population in Wuhan ordered to take a COVID-19 test

Authorities in Wuhan have ordered the entire population to undergo a test for COVID-19 after a number of positive cases have re-emerged.

Wuhan had seven cases that were transmitted locally – the first local infections in more than a year.

The city of 11 million people was the first place where the virus appeared in 2019. China is currently experiencing many cases when compared to recent months. In the last ten days, 300 cases have been detected.

Currently all 15 provinces are affected and this has led the Government to order everyone to take the test and also make restrictions including a lockdown.

Authorities are attributing the spread of the virus to the Delta variant and the tourism season.
