Almost five years’ imprisonment for jewels theft from Airport

A man arrested last week in connection with a number of thefts from Malta International Airport retail outlets has been sentenced to four years and eleven months of imprisonment.

Joseph Buttigieg, who is 46, admitted to accusations after being arrested in his Marsa home two days after the theft of jewels worth almost €6,000 from an Airport show window.

Security cameras footage showed Buttigieg fleeing from the Airport on a motorbike. Police investigations established the accused had carried out other thefts from other Airport retail outlets in recent weeks.
