Four killed as coach plunges off road in France

Four people were killed and 20 others injured in an incident involving a coach in Central France.

The Portuguese coach was being driven along the Central Atlantic Road in Saone-et-Loire when the driver lost control of the vehicle, crashed through a road barrier and plunged over the edge of the road. All the victims were Portuguese.

At the time the road was in an icy and slippery condition and had been marked with an “orange” warning because of ice in the area and indicating it as a danger zone.

This was France’s worst road incident since May of 2016 when 12 Portuguese people were killed following a collision between a coach and a van.
