EXCLUSIVE: Three arrested after house search connected to recent drugs raids

A farmhouse converted into a luxury residence and rented out for the princely sum of €4,000 monthly was the latest target for the Police in a coordinated raid on Wednesday evening that led to the arrest of three Maltese men as part of a wider investigation into drugs trafficking. Investigations carried on into Thursday morning.

The raid was carried out by the Police Anti-Drugs Squad.

Throughout yesterday, the Squad, also helped by the Police Special Unit known as SIU as well as the Rapid Intervention Unit, carried out a search in the property of one of the arrested men in the limits of Wardija’s San Martin.

From information exclusive to TVM it results the converted farmhouse was rented to one of the arrested men and he is well-known to the Police. Sources stated the house was being rented out at €4,000 monthly. Sources also stated that in recent weeks a number of luxury vehicles were seen going into and emerging from the property at all hours of the day.

A search on the property yielded an amount of drugs as well as items related to drugs trafficking.

It is understood that this latest raid in Wardija is a continuation of investigations and raids carried out in Birkirkara; Marsa; Gżira and Blata l-Bajda, during which 24 persons were arrested. In the raids the Police found quantities of heroin, cocaine and cannabis, as well as items related to drugs consumption as well as trafficking.
