The Minister for Finance and Employment, Clyde Caruana, announced that the rebate grant given on deposits for postponed wedding and civil union marriages announced during 2020 as part of the Economic Regeneration Plan is to be extended from 1st January this year to the end of the year.
He said €2 million have been allocated for this Scheme and this will remain in force until the whole amount is expended. Each couple may benefit by up to €2,000 and only one application may be made.
The eligible criteria are:
- The wedding or civil union ceremony was originally expected to take place between 8th March 2020 and 31st December 2021;
- The couple had paid deposits on items and services related to their intended ceremonies verified by presented documents;
- Those providing services for a re-arranged date may differ from those originally booked for the first ceremony plan.
