EU reaches target of vaccinating 70% of all adults

The President of the European Commission Ursula Von der Leyen has stated that the EU has kept its word that by July, 70% of adults in member states will have taken at least the first dose.

She pointed out that 57% of adults have taken both doses and said that the statistics place European countries among the leaders in the Covid vaccine roll-out.

Von der Leyen said that the recovery process from the pandemic is going well, however she insisted that all EU countries need to commit themselves more.

“The Delta variant is very dangerous. We urge all those who have not been vaccinated to do so to protect themselves and others.

The President of the European Commission added that the EU will continue to provide enough vaccines for all those who want them.
