Europe is expected to be struck by an intense heatwave according to weather forecasters. In some cities temperatures are expected to reach record levels. The Maltese islands are no exception and even countries like the UK, France, Spain and Germany will not escape the the soaring temperatures which is being caused by a mass of hot air over North Africa which will be pulled over Europe.
In the UK, temperatures are expected to begin to subside at the end of this week while in France maximum temperatures of 40 degrees Celsius are expected. These unusual temperature warnings have caused the Authorities to issue an orange alert in Paris where the temperature feel factor can reach 47 degrees Celsius on account of the humidity. Facilities have also been set up where the public can cool off. Spain is also registering temperatures in excess of 40 degrees while Germany has also issued warnings for the public to take precautions and not stay in the sun due to high temperatures.
