The 32 edition of European Film Awards , was held in Berlin last Saturday, in a ceremony which recognises the best European talent in the film industry.
It was a triumphant night for “The Favorite” – the film which took home several awards during this year’s edition, including best film and best director (Yorgos Lanthimos). “The Favorite” also won an award for the best comedy, and British actress Olivia Colman won an award for best actress for her role as Queen Anne.
The best actor award went to internationally renowned Antonio Banderas, for his role as Salvador Mallo in “Pain and Glory”.
Best writing award went to Céline Sciamma, for “Portrait of a Lady on Fire”.
“The Christmas Gift”, directed by Bogdan Mure Sanu, won the award for the best short film . “For Sama” won best documentary, and Salvador Simó”s Buñuel in-the Labyrinth of-the Turtles’ , won best animated film.
The People’s Choice Award went to “Cold War”, while “Les Miserables” won the award for best debutant director, Ly Ladj.
