UPDATE (3): Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp down for two hours

All Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp services were down and not accessible to users around the world for over two hours.

Initial problems started surfacing yesterday, with users complaining the page was not showing new posts. At about 12.45 p.m. today, the service switched off completely.

After some minutes, users from a number of countries, including the Czech Republic and the Philippines, started reporting that the service was back, but it seems that the service was down again later.

In Malta the service remained down until 3.00 p.m., and until that time the company had not issued any official statement on the situation. Instagram and WhatsApp services came on again at the same time as Facebook.
