Fifty year old man charged with raping partner repeatedly

A 50-year-old man was accused, inter alia, of repeatedly raping his partner and of taking sexual pictures of her with the intention of threatening her. He is denying the charges.

The man was brought to court today under arrest, where he was charged with a series of charges against his partner, with whom he has been in a relationship for over 20 years.

The man, whose name cannot be released by court order, has been charged with rape and harassing her sexually. He was also accused of threatening her, slightly injuring her, and taking or disseminating photos or videos of her of a sexual nature to threaten her.

The court, presided over by Magistrate Ian Farrugia, ordered that the man be remanded in custody.

The accused was represented by Attorney Charmaine Cherrett, while Dr Arthur Azzopardi appeared parte civile. The prosecution is being led by Inspector Kylie Borg.
