A 14-year-old Maltese boy has been detained by Police in connection with a stabbing that took place this afternoon at about 5pm in Triq Locker in Sliema.
It seems that the boy being detained by Police argued with a 21-year-old British youth from Mosta and it is alleged the boy stabbed the youth in the stomach with a knife. Assistance was immediately requested and the Maltese boy was detained by persons until the Police arrived.
The injured British youth was taken to Mater Dei Hospital where it was later confirmed that he had suffered a grievous injury and on arrival at hospital he was operated on. The Police were later informed that even the 14-year-old was certified to have sustained grievous injuries.
Duty Magistrate Ian Farrugia has launched an Inquiry. Investigations are being carried out by Police Superintendent Sandro Camilleri and District Police Inspector Jessica Bezzina.
