Fine and suspended sentence for distributing sexual photographs of former partner

A 31-year-old Indian national who lives and works in Malta has admitted to distributing private sexual photographs of his ex-partner without her consent.

Lawyer Roberta Bonello explained that this was a complicated situation, being a relationship that had soured. Magistrate Donatella Frendo Dimech declared that as a result of these types of photographs, modesty is being discarded, adding such photographs should neither be taken nor distributed.

The accused was fined 6,500 euro which he has to pay within one year and was handed down a two-year prison sentence suspended for four years. The Magistrate also ordered the accused not to speak to the girl or to her partner.
