Fireplace causes fire and explosion in Zabbar – no one injured

A fire which started from a fireplace in the front room of a Zabbar house, led to an explosion this morning.

The Police told TVM that the explosion was a minor one, and happened in Triq il-Baħrija at around 9am.

Police officers and members of the Armed Forces from the Explosive Ordinance Unit were on the scene to investigate the source of the explosion.

A spokesperson for the AFM told this newsroom that members of the EOD had confirmed this was not due to a bomb, but was a result of the fire which started from the fireplace.
