First back flip at Birżebbuġa skatepark

During the eighteen months since the opening of the Birżebbuġa skatepark, the locality’s youths and those from surrounding areas have increased their interest in BMX sport.

Even if the skatepark has frequently courted controversy because of safety issues and rainwater problems, this park is packed every day in summer by enthusiasts who have either started practising this sport or are bent on improving their skills.

Enthusiasts include Dailin Zammit, who has now managed the first-ever back flip at the skatepark. This is a skill acquired by professional athletes after long practice sessions, as well as plenty of falls!

However, Dailin does not keep these skills to himself alone, and the youth is often seen passing on his knowledge to other youths, to whom he is an inspiration.
