First new collective agreement in almost 30 years for workers in correctional services sector

The first collective agreement for workers in the correctional services sector has been signed. This agreement grants new rights to correctional officers which follow other rights which have been granted, including 25 years of service and the chance for them to join a union of their choice.

It was signed by the Minister for Home Affairs and National Security,  Byron Camilleri who said he was satisfied that this chapter has been closed, in which those employed with the disciplinary forces will be benefiting from new collective agreements.

Minister Camilleri said this year the Government will invest €15 million in almost 5,000 workers in the disciplinary forces because it believes that they are crucial for the improvement of security in our country.
