Women who take a fish oil capsule daily during their pregnancy or in the first three months of breastfeeding may reduce the risk of food allergies in their children.
From the analysis of various studies by the Imperial College London it emerges that taking this supplement in the first year of the baby’s life, can reduce the risk of egg allergies by 30%.
Fish oil contains Omega 3 which combats the effects of inflammation.
On their part, researchers said that more research is required on children over the age of one.
In the UK, one out of every 20 children suffer from some type of food allergy such as nuts, eggs, milk or wheat. These allergies are a result of the immune system not working properly.
