Five monkeys genetically modified to remain awake

In China, five monkeys have been genetically modified to always remain awake.

The experiment has been carried out with the aim of studying the phenomenon experienced by many at times – that of being unable to sleep at all costs.

The monkeys are being observed and studied at Cas-Ion, in a Shanghai laboratory.

Some 15% of the world’s population suffers from insomnia, and Chinese scientists are studying this anomaly on monkeys, the animals with the closest resemblance to humans.
