American Michael Packard, who earns his living fishing for lobsters, can count his lucky stars after while carrying out his work he was swallowed by a whale.
Packard was on a boat with another fisherman at Herring Cove in Massachusetts when he dived about 14 metres and found himself in the jaws of a whale.
In a media comment to CBSN Boston, Packard said he was in the whale’s mouth for about 30 seconds. He said at first he thought he had been attacked by a shark but he realised the creature that held him had no teeth and concluded it was a whale.
Packard added that after some seconds the whale spewed him out into the sea and all was well although he ended up with a dislocated knee.
