The President of the Malta Motorsports Federation Duncan Micallef has welcomed the government’s decision to build a racing track on land in Ħal Far with an investment of € 20 million.
At a cabinet meeting Prime Minister Robert Abela announced that the international-level track will be built on the site where the sport is already practiced and that no ODZ land would be used in the process.
In comments he made during the cabinet meeting, Mr Micallef said that for the last seven months they had worked day and night to make this dream come true. He said that the Federation had worked with the government and within the parameters given, to present a project that in his words would benefit everyone.
He said that the project would be of the highest level and assured that through this track successful results would be achieved in various disciplines as they have been achieved in the past in the sport of drag racing.
He concluded by thanking Prime Minister Abela, Parliamentary Secretary for Sport Clifton Grima and the rest of the government for their cooperation to make this wish of thousands of car enthusiasts a reality.
