Footballer Leon de Kogel, seriously injured in Salini traffic accident, taken abroad for further treatment
Leon de Kogel, a former player with FC Utrecht , Go Ahead Eagles and Deventer, who last week was involved in a serious traffic accident in Salini, has been taken to Utrecht for further treatment.
de Koegel, who is only 26 years old, was on holiday in Malta when the car in which he was a passenger was involved in a traffic accident. The car was being driven by a 23-year-old woman from Rabat, Gozo.
Last January, de Koegel signed an 18-month contract with UE Cornellà, a second-division team in Spain.
de Koegel was released from Mater Dei three days after the accident and was taken to Utrecht, in the Netherlands, for further treatment. He sustained severe injuries and for some time was in danger of dying.
