Former ambassador George Cassar dies

The death has been announced of former Ambassador George Cassar at the age of 69.

Dr Cassar, who was a lawyer, served as a Maltese Ambassador to Libya between 2009 – 2011. He ended his mission in Libya when he was evacuated during the riots.

He also served in various other diplomatic roles, including that of Ambassador to Egypt, and non-resident ambassador to Ethiopia and Sudan between 2012 – 2015.
