Former police officer to be charged with murder of driver whom she shot at instead of using a taser
A former police officer who killed the driver of a car in Minnesota will be formally charged with his murder after she pulled him over, and by mistake shot him with her gun instead of using a taser. Kim Potter was granted bail on a guarantee of $100,000.
Lawyers for the family of the victim, Duante Wright Ben Crump said that the murder was intentional, deliberate and made unjustified use of excessive force.
Both Potter and the former Police Chief Tim Gannon resigned after the killing led to large protests in Brooklyn Center, which is suburb of Minneapolis.
